Bolderwood is an open-access area of forest on Ornamental Drive in the New Forest, managed by Forestry England. A car park at the start gives access to waymarked walking trails through some of the oldest Douglas fir trees in the forest and an extensive stretch of ancient and ornamental woodland with veteran trees. Families can bring a picnic to the picnic area, go for a walk, or ride the cycle trail that starts from the car park, which suits older children. Dogs are welcome on the trails. The site is outdoors and free to walk around, so it suits a relaxed day in the forest rather than an indoor attraction. Visitors may spot deer and forest ponies, but the deer sanctuary and feeding station that once gave the place its name no longer operate.
