Knightwood Oak is a large, very old pollarded oak tree in the New Forest, reached by a short stroll across the road from a car park on Bolderwood Ornamental Drive. The tree is often described as the largest oak in the forest, and a family can walk up to it on a waymarked route, read the information panel and imagine how long it has stood there. The trail is short and easy, so it suits young children and pushchairs, and the surrounding woodland is a pleasant place to stop. There are picnic tables on site, and visitors can also spread a blanket under the trees. Dogs are allowed on the forest paths. It works well as a quick stop combined with nearby walks such as Bolderwood, where deer are often seen.
