Strumpshaw Steam Museum is a collection of traction engines, steam rollers, a showman's engine, a steam wagon and large stationary beam engines, set in the grounds of an historic Norfolk hall. Families can wander the engine sheds and farm machinery displays, ride the miniature narrow gauge railway on running days, and see a 1930s fairground with mechanical organs. The museum runs special steam events through the year, including rallies where many of the engines are fired up and working, so there is usually something moving to watch. The site has a cafeteria serving tea, coffee, cakes and pastries, a gift shop, and a picnic-friendly paddock. Dogs on leads are welcome in the museum. Because much of the site is outdoors, bring clothing for the weather. The museum is run by the founding family's estate and volunteers, and it suits children who like machines, trains and old-fashioned fairground rides.
