A small, independent lifeboat station on the north Norfolk coast where families can get close to working rescue boats and learn about more than two centuries of volunteer lifesaving. The visitor centre is the starting point, with volunteers on hand to welcome guests and point them towards the heritage museum. Children can dress up in lifeboat crew clothing and helmets, and the displays include historic vessels and stories of famous rescues, which suits school-age children and younger ones who like to explore. The lookout cafe sits inside the centre with views over the boats, and a shop sells lifeboat-themed gifts and clothing. The station is run by local volunteers and funded by donations, so it is a relaxed, low-key outing that works well on a rainy day or as a stop after a beach visit.
