Lynn Museum tells the story of West Norfolk, from prehistoric times to the recent past. Its centrepiece is a Bronze Age timber circle known as Seahenge, displayed with a replica that lets visitors see how the timbers were arranged and how they were found on the beach. Other galleries cover the medieval port of King's Lynn, Roman coins from the region, and the town's industrial past, including fairground and traction engine manufacture. Housed in a former Victorian church beside the bus station, it is an easy, mostly indoor visit for families with children of school age, and a good rainy-day stop in town. Younger children can enjoy the historic objects and the chance to look at the big-picture displays together. The museum runs school and family learning programmes through the Norfolk Museums Service learning team.
