The Shirehall Museum sits at the main entrance to the Walsingham Abbey Grounds in the village of Little Walsingham. Its highlight is an original Georgian courtroom that children can explore freely, sitting in the judge's chair or imagining themselves in the jury box or the dock. Upstairs, a public gallery overlooks the courtroom scene. Other displays cover the history of law and order, old punishments, a local policing collection with items such as truncheons and handcuffs, the history of pilgrimage to Walsingham, and a collection of village artefacts and photographs. Admission is included with the Abbey Grounds, so families can pair a museum visit with a walk through the priory ruins, woodland and riverside paths. The museum has a small gift shop, and the grounds are busiest during the snowdrop season in February.
