A small heritage railway running through the North Norfolk countryside between the seaside town of Wells-next-the-Sea and the village of Walsingham. The trip takes around half an hour and passes over and under bridges, past a hill fort and a ghost platform, with wild flowers, birds and deer visible from the carriages. Children tend to enjoy the old-fashioned trains, the guard and the chance to spot the engine at each end. At the Wells station there is a café and a miniature carriage play and picnic area, and the railway runs special activities in school holidays. Trains are not always steam-hauled, as the operator sometimes uses diesel engines. Tickets are bought from the guard on the day rather than booked online, and groups of twelve or more should book ahead. The railway is run by volunteers as a not-for-profit company.
Seasonal service running March to November.
