Strangers' Hall is a historic house museum tucked off Charing Cross in the centre of Norwich, run by Norfolk Museums Service for the city. The building is a merchant's home with origins in the medieval period, and its rooms are set out to show how people lived in different eras, from a Tudor Great Hall and panelled bedrooms to a Georgian dining room and a Victorian parlour. Children often enjoy the nursery and toy room, which hold old toys, games and children's books, and the house's maze of passages and changes of level make exploring feel like a hunt. A small knot garden lies behind the house. The site is compact, so a visit suits a relaxed hour or two, and it pairs well with the nearby city centre and Norwich Castle.
