A purpose-built museum on the edge of Caister-on-Sea holds a large private collection of veteran, vintage, classic and sports cars, along with motorcycles, steam and electric vehicles, bicycles, pedal cars and horse-drawn carriages. Exhibits span from the late nineteenth century to more recent models, so there is plenty for children to look at as well as grown-ups. Admission also covers the medieval castle tower, which visitors can climb for views over the moat, the castle ruins and the surrounding countryside. The grounds have a woodland walk and lawns where families can picnic, and a cafe serves light refreshments. It suits a relaxed half-day out, with the castle giving a historic backdrop for the motoring displays. Dogs on leads are welcome in the castle grounds, though only assistance dogs go inside the museum.
Seasonal opening mid-May to late September; closed Saturdays.
