The Norfolk Tank Museum is a registered charity that collects and maintains military vehicles, weapons and militaria, mostly from the twentieth century and the Cold War period. Many of the tanks and armoured cars are kept in working order, and visitors are encouraged to get close to them, climb inside and handle a range of small arms and radios. Children often enjoy the chance to sit in a turret and see the cramped crew spaces for themselves, while older visitors can learn about the First World War Mk IV tank Deborah II, which featured in a television programme. The grounds include a tearoom, a picnic area and a playground, so a visit can easily fill a relaxed afternoon. The museum also hosts seasonal events such as living history weekends and the large Armourfest show, where tanks and military vehicles run on a purpose-built course. Opening is limited to a few days each week, so families should check the calendar before setting out.
