The Ruskin is a museum and research institute at Lancaster University, built around the Whitehouse Ruskin Collection of drawings, paintings, letters, manuscripts, photographs and daguerreotypes by the Victorian writer and artist John Ruskin and his circle. Its award-winning building, designed by Sir Richard MacCormac, was a free public museum with rotating exhibitions, and it has run creative workshops for children and families during school holidays. The building is currently closed to the public for refurbishment, so exhibitions and events are running off-site and online. The Ruskin suits older children and families with an interest in art, architecture, drawing or the history of science and the environment, and it sits beside Lancaster University's campus with views over the coast.
