What’s there
- Parking
The centre's own directions describe a pay and display car park on Longlands Lane, a short walk from the village; check current parking on arrival.
Only facilities we’ve confirmed are listed — anything missing here we simply haven’t checked, rather than know to be absent.
Housed in a former barn beside a 17th-century farmhouse in the old centre of Heysham village, this small heritage centre traces the story of the village from its Viking-age roots through the busy port era of the early twentieth century. Displays of old photographs, local relics and souvenirs give families a simple, easy-to-take-in introduction to the area, and the visit pairs well with a walk along the village heritage trail or a trip up to the nearby headland and its ancient chapel ruins. Because it is a compact space run by volunteers, it suits a relaxed visit of an hour or so rather than a full day, and children with an interest in history, old buildings or local stories tend to get the most from it. The centre opens only on certain days and times, so families should check the current pattern before setting out.
Opens seasonally and on selected days; check the opening page before travelling.
