Royston Museum is a small, independent museum and registered charity that tells the story of the town and its district. The ground-floor Exhibition Hall holds displays on the Romans, local industry, the Victorians, the two World Wars and the town's entertainment history. Corvis the Crow welcomes younger visitors, and the museum says it has activities for children, marked by turquoise hands. The site also mentions ancient burial mounds, a medieval priory and a royal palace as part of the town's story. Cushioned seating is set out across the main hall, and families can picnic in the courtyard. The museum suits a short, relaxed visit with children, and it is free to enter. Family events and school-holiday activities are advertised on the what's-on page of the museum's website, so it is worth checking before a visit.
