The Hertfordshire Scouts County Museum and Archive sits within Well End Activity Centre and tells the story of Scouting in Hertfordshire, which was the first organised Scout county in the country. Named after Haydn Dimmock, a Hertfordshire Scout who edited the national weekly magazine The Scout, the museum has displays on local Scouting history and a large archive of group records and magazines. Young people in the Cubs through to Network sections are the main audience, and visits can count towards activity badge work for all sections. A quiz sheet is available to help younger visitors explore the displays. Because the museum is open by appointment only, families planning a visit should contact the County Archivist first to arrange a time. It suits a Scout group outing or a history-minded family with an interest in uniformed youth movements.
Questions parents ask

- Which ages will get the most out of it?
- The Museum is designed for those in Cubs upwards, and visits can count towards badge work for all sections. It focuses on the history of Hertfordshire Scouting rather than general family activities.
