Frogmore Paper Mill is a heritage site and working paper mill on the banks of the River Gade in Apsley, near Hemel Hempstead. It describes itself as the world's oldest mechanised paper mill, and visitors can see historic Fourdrinier paper machines still making artisan paper. Family activities have included hands-on papermaking, where children can make a sheet of paper to take home, along with guided tours of the historic buildings. Storyboat trips on the river run during school holidays for younger children, and the site hosts crafting sessions in half term, street food events and school workshops. The mill has been closed to the public for a long period after a fire and is now reopening in stages, so families should check current tour dates before visiting. Parking is available nearby and there are a couple of accessible spaces at the entrance.
