Only facilities we’ve confirmed are listed — anything missing here we simply haven’t checked, rather than know to be absent.
The History Store is the county's purpose-built collections store, looked after by Herefordshire Museums and Galleries. Its climate-controlled stores hold art, archaeology, costume, social history and natural science objects that are not on display elsewhere, and families can get a rare look at how a museum is cared for. The centre runs behind-the-scenes tours, hands-on sessions and family events, including occasional handling days with replica finds from the Herefordshire Hoard. Children can take part in school workshops and education sessions, and the building is set up for visitors with a range of needs. Visits are free but usually arranged in advance, and the opening pattern is short, so it suits a planned outing rather than a drop-in afternoon. It is a good pairing with the nearby city museums for a family looking to see more of how Hereford's heritage is kept.
