Murton Park is a 14-acre rural site a short drive east of York, and it suits a family day out with children of most ages. The centre of the visit is the Yorkshire Museum of Farming, which shows historic farm machinery, vintage tractors, carts and hand tools across several gallery buildings, with larger objects displayed outdoors. Beyond the museum there are living history areas including a Viking village, a Roman fort and a Second World War home front shelter, which are open to visitors most weekends and during school holidays. Younger children tend to head for the adventure playground, the toy pedal tractors and the picnic area, and there are animals to see on site. A railway ride runs at weekends. Seasonal events, reenactment days and family workshops run through the year, and the Yorkshire Barn Café serves food on site.

Packed seasonal calendar of reenactment events, activity days and Christmas events; Christmas closure dates as in hoursNote.
