Yorkshire Lavender is a family-run lavender farm set on about 60 acres overlooking the Vale of York. Visitors can wander through the lavender fields and a range of themed gardens, which include a lavender maze, a sensory garden, a Mediterranean dry garden and a sculpture park. There is a children's play area and open grounds where younger visitors can run about, and a tea room serving cream teas and light meals. A gift shop sells products distilled from the farm's own lavender, and a plant nursery offers herbs, grasses and perennials. Dogs on leads are welcome in the gardens. The lavender is at its best from midsummer into August, and the gardens are open in the season and at selected times outside it, so families should check the venue's current calendar before travelling.
