Set in a wooded valley between Masham and Ripon, this garden spreads across about 45 acres of paths, lakes, an arboretum and rhododendron, azalea and magnolia plantings. Scattered through the grounds are around ninety contemporary sculptures by artists from the UK and abroad, so a walk becomes a treasure hunt for children as well as an art trail for adults. A woodland playground sits beside the tearoom, letting parents rest while children climb and slide. Paths are steep and gravel in places, so sturdy footwear suits the visit best. Well-behaved dogs on short leads are welcome, and the tearoom serves hot food, cakes and vegetarian options. Tickets must be booked in advance online, and the garden runs a seasonal opening between spring and autumn.

- Is it manageable with a toddler and an older child at once?
- There's a woodland playground beside the tearoom for children to play while families relax, and walking trails through woodland and open spaces that you can explore at your own pace. A café and baby changing facilities are available on site.
- Can we eat there, or should we take a picnic?
- The garden tearoom is onsite beside the playground. We haven't confirmed whether there's a picnic area.
- Do we need to book in advance?
- Yes, you must book your tickets in advance before visiting. The venue asks that you contact the team if you need any assistance with your booking.
