The Ingleton Waterfalls Trail is a circular walk through oak woodland and steep limestone and slate glens in the Yorkshire Dales. Families can follow a well-defined footpath beside the two rivers, passing a series of waterfalls, including the tall Thornton Force, with plenty of places to stop and look. The route is a fairly strenuous walk with many steps, so it suits children who are used to hiking and older children best; pushchairs and wheelchairs are not suitable on the full route. A children's activity challenge and a self-guided geology and ecology guide help younger visitors notice the plants, wildlife and rock features along the way. The trail has a café, refreshment kiosks and picnic areas, and the site is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. It is a year-round outing, and the walk looks different through the seasons.
Year-round attraction; the trail takes on average 2.5 hours and must be completed before dark. Winter walks promoted on the site.
