What’s there

  • Paid parking
  • Dogs welcome

Parking is at the Swinton Bivouac car park by the Bivouac Café; the estate says parking fees apply and help maintain the area. The amount is not stated on the estate page.

Only facilities we’ve confirmed are listed — anything missing here we simply haven’t checked, rather than know to be absent.

The Druid's Temple is a folly built in the woods of the Swinton Estate in Nidderdale, styled after stone circles and Stonehenge. Visitors find a main circular temple with standing stones, an altar and a tomb set among trees, with more stones dotted around the woodland to discover. It is a short walk from the reception at Swinton Bivouac, so it suits families who want an easy woodland outing with a bit of history and a sense of mystery. The estate describes the site as appealing to walkers, families and bird watchers. Longer waymarked walks on the estate, including a circular route around Sole Beck, can be added on. A café at Swinton Bivouac offers refreshments afterwards, and dogs are welcome in the area around the folly. The site is open all year and no booking is needed to visit.

Open all year round according to the Swinton Estate page. No seasonal closures are listed there.
