The Visitor Centre is the main starting point for Dalby Forest, a large woodland in the North York Moors National Park. Families use it as a base for the day. Inside there is a cafe with indoor and outdoor seating, a gift shop stocked with local produce and children's toys, and an information point where staff can suggest easy trails for little walkers as well as cycling routes. Just outside, the Grandfather Oak play area has swings, slides and a separate section for smaller children, and the wider forest has Gruffalo-themed trails and a designated stargazing site. Pick up a trail map before heading out, as the paths range from short woodland loops to longer routes.
