What’s there

  • Parking

The venue's site says parking is available in the Square and in the Yorkshire Dales National Park car park nearby.

Only facilities we’ve confirmed are listed — anything missing here we simply haven’t checked, rather than know to be absent.

Grassington Folk Museum sits on the cobbled square of this Upper Wharfedale village, in two old miners' cottages. It is run by the Upper Wharfedale Museum Society and staffed by volunteers. Displays cover the story of the local area from early farming and cutting terraces on the fell sides, through domestic life, to the arrival of gramophones, cameras and silent films. Children can look at geological specimens including local minerals, lead mining tools, farming equipment that is striking in its size, and a cobbler's bench. Other sections cover the Yorkshire Dales Railway and wartime memorabilia. It is a small museum, so a visit suits a short stop during a day in the village, and it is especially good for older children curious about history and objects.

Open mainly late March to end of October, plus Christmas market Saturdays and February half-term. Opening days and times depend on volunteers.
