The garden has no parking of its own. The nearest is the Cleveland Way long-stay car park, about 150 m away, which has two disabled bays and charges; blue badge parking is charged there. Parking is also available in Helmsley Market Square and on surrounding roads. A drop-off at the main gate can be arranged by contacting the garden.

Helmsley Walled Garden is a five-acre kitchen garden dating from the 18th century, tucked beneath the ruins of Helmsley Castle inside the North York Moors National Park. Families can wander a patchwork of themed borders, flower beds, orchards and Victorian glasshouses, with plenty of space to move about and wooden seats for a rest. The garden is run as a charity and maintained largely by volunteers, and there is a children's play area for younger visitors. The Vine House Café, set in one of the historic glasshouses, serves lunches and cakes, and the garden shop sells plants and gifts. Dogs on leads are welcome. Allow an hour or two to see the garden at a relaxed pace, and check the seasonal opening pattern before you travel.
Open March to December only, on Wednesday to Sunday. Free RHS member days apply on Wednesdays and daily in October.
