Bolton Abbey Estate is a large countryside estate in Wharfedale, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The priory church and ruins that give the village its name sit beside the River Wharfe, and the wider estate covers many miles of woodland, moorland and riverside paths. Families use it for short riverside strolls, longer walks, and the stepping-stones and waterfall area known as The Strid. The estate runs a seasonal programme of family-oriented activities through the year, including trails, workshops and events aimed at children, alongside a family cycle route and outdoor theatre. Visitors can also take in the historic church, which remains a working parish church. Its size means there is room to spread out, picnic and explore at a child's pace.
Electric wheelchairs hired April to end of October. Family events run through the year, including Welly Walk, Pumpkin Trail, Easter hunts and Father Christmas visits.
