No on-site parking for visitors. Three-hour on-street parking on Swan Road (parking disc required) and one designated accessible bay near the museum. Train and bus stations about a 15-minute walk.

The Royal Pump Room Museum sits in an ornate Grade II listed building at the heart of Harrogate, beside Valley Gardens. Inside, the museum traces how the town grew into a fashionable spa resort, using costumes, objects, photographs and stories of the famous visitors who came to take the waters. Displays include a reimagined Victorian street and the restored octagonal pump room, where the sulphur water once served to guests. Visitors can also see the historic free tap at the back of the building and try the water for themselves. The museum is compact, so a family visit can comfortably fill an hour or so, and there is a changing programme of temporary exhibitions alongside the permanent galleries. It suits school-age children and adults who enjoy local history, quirky stories and old-fashioned exhibits. The building is all on one level, which makes it easy to explore with a pushchair.
