The Wensleydale Creamery visitor centre sits in the market town of Hawes in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and is built around the making of Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese. Families can watch master cheesemakers at work from a viewing gallery overlooking the creamery, then work through the museum that traces the cheese's history from its early days to the present. A live demonstration room and a self-guided cheese experience keep younger visitors interested, and the cheese shop offers free tasting of a wide range of varieties. There is a gift shop with plenty of Wallace and Gromit merchandise, a self-service coffee shop with an outdoor garden, and a restaurant for lunch. Dogs are welcome in the coffee shop garden, and the centre suits a relaxed half-day or longer out with children of all ages.

Shorter hours from 2 November as described in hoursNote.
