Brimham Rocks is a large area of wind and weather sculpted rock formations spread across heather moorland on the edge of Nidderdale. Families can clamber over and around the rocks, follow the marked trails and spot the balanced and oddly shaped stones that children tend to name as animals or faces. The moor is open all year and admission is free, so it suits a long relaxed walk, a picnic on the benches, or a shorter loop to the main rock area for younger legs. Ranger-led activities and guided tours run through the year, and the visitor centre and kiosk are near the car park. The site is managed by the National Trust, which publishes family-focused advice for visits, and dogs are welcome on short leads. Some ground is steep and uneven, so buggies and wheelchairs are better suited to the accessible route to the main rocks.
