Millom Rock Park is an open-air geology display on a viewpoint above the working Ghyll Scaur Quarry in south-west Cumbria. Large boulders representing the main rock types found across the county are laid out along a path, each with an information panel explaining how it formed. From the viewing point children can look down into the quarry and see rock being worked. It suits families who enjoy learning about rocks, volcanoes and the landscape around the Lake District, and it features in family geology days run by children's geology clubs. The route runs along an unsurfaced forest track and an uneven uphill path, so sturdy footwear is sensible and a pushchair may be hard going. Some organised visits include the chance to collect small volcanic rock samples to take home.
