Stott Park Bobbin Mill is a preserved Industrial Revolution mill set in four acres of woodland on the western side of Windermere. The machinery is belt-driven and presented as it would have been in the 1870s, and volunteers demonstrate how timber from the surrounding trees was turned into bobbins for the cotton industry. Families can follow a trail around the site, look for wildlife, and browse a second-hand bookshop. The grounds have picnic tables, and the woodland floor is carpeted with bluebells in spring. Guided tours run through the mill, and the site also hosts seasonal family days with craft activities and steam engine demonstrations. It suits children interested in how things were made, and the woodland makes it a good stop for a walk-and-look visit.
