The journey ends at Lakeside, where passengers can connect with Windermere Lake Cruises. The Victorian Haverthwaite Station is the base for the line, with a café in the original waiting room, a gift shop, an engine shed to look around and a woodland playground with a walk. Dogs are welcome on the station and can ride the train. Children tend to enjoy seeing the engines up close and the playground between trains. The railway runs as a seasonal operation, so it is worth checking the timetable before travelling, especially outside the main summer months when the café may be the only part open.
