What’s there

  • Café on site
  • Paid parking

No car park on site. The site names Lake Road and Lakeside car park as the closest, directly opposite the park, and says it can be very busy in summer; it also mentions town-centre car parks.

Only facilities we’ve confirmed are listed — anything missing here we simply haven’t checked, rather than know to be absent.

Hope Park is a leafy park on the edge of Keswick in the Lake District, with a traditional crazy golf course at its heart. The eighteen-hole course is set among the gardens and has views towards the fells, and families often combine a round with a walk through the park. Younger children tend to enjoy the remote-controlled boats on a small replica of Derwentwater, while older ones can try the nine-hole pitch and putt. There is a woodland walk, a bird hide and a sundial garden to explore, plus picnic areas and a dog-friendly cafe with an ice cream kiosk. Golf and games are paid, but the park itself is free to enter. It suits days out with young children, grandparents and visitors who want a relaxed outdoor afternoon rather than a fast-paced attraction.

Crazy golf is weather permitting according to the venue's crazy golf page.

Questions parents ask

Is there a café, and what should we bring to eat?
Cafe Hope serves breakfast, lunch, cream teas and refreshments all year round. There are also picnic areas throughout the park, so you can bring your own food if you prefer.
Can we manage it with a pushchair and children of different ages?
The park has beautiful gardens, multiple activities and picnic areas spread across the grounds. However, we haven't confirmed whether buggies are easily manageable on all paths, so it's worth ringing ahead to check.
Will it work if the weather turns bad?
The park and facilities are open all year round, weather permitting. A wet day would limit the outdoor games, but the café is indoors and the woodland walks and gardens are still worth exploring.
Is there parking, and is it a long walk from the car?
There is parking close to the park. One visitor noted they used the car park just across the road, making access straightforward for families.
How long should we plan to spend here?
One family spent several happy hours relaxing, having a picnic, walking the gardens and playing pitch and putt. With so many activities—crazy golf, putting green, bird hide, woodland walks and a café—you can easily tailor a visit to an hour or a whole afternoon.
