Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre

A family day out built around a Shire horse stud that has been breeding prize-winning horses for decades. Visitors can walk among the mares, foals and stallions, and watch daily activities such as talks about the breed, feeding rounds and pony grooming for younger children. The site spreads across grounds with woodland, a nature trail, a woodland maze and wildlife areas, and the centre keeps a range of other animals including otters, deer, pigs and poultry. There is an exhibition area on the history of the Shire horse, a gift shop and a lakeside cafe serving light lunches and cakes. Free parking is available on site. The centre suits toddlers through to older children and grown-ups who enjoy farm animals and open air walks, and the extra time spent wandering the grounds makes it an easy half-day or full day visit.
