The Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum is a Grade II listed Victorian house on East Cliff in Bournemouth, once the home of Sir Merton and Lady Annie Russell-Cotes and given to the town as a public museum. Visitors wander through the grand reception rooms, the Oriental-inspired interiors and the private quarters of the family, then move on to the galleries holding paintings, sculpture, ceramics and decorative arts from around the world. Temporary exhibitions change through the year, and the house runs talks, workshops and events. Families with children can learn about different art techniques, explore the collections and try on Victorian costumes. There is a café on site and clifftop views over the sea, and the museum is a popular stop for school groups as well as day visitors.
