The Keep Military Museum sits in a Grade II listed former gatehouse of the Depot Barracks in Dorchester town centre. Its displays cover the Devonshire and Dorset regiments and the Dorset Yeomanry from the 1680s to the present day, using interactive and 3D displays, personal stories, films and objects such as uniforms and weapons. Families can climb to a rooftop terrace for views across the town, and the museum has run family-oriented events and learning sessions for school groups. The museum is currently closed following an unexpected closure, and its own site says it will remain closed throughout 2026 while the building's future is resolved, so check before planning a visit.
