Nothe Fort is a Victorian coastal fort at the mouth of Weymouth Harbour, now run as a museum by a volunteer-led charity. Families can wander the maze of underground passages and magazines, look round the Victorian gun deck, and climb up to the ramparts to see a Second World War gun and wide views across the Jurassic Coast. A Cold War bunker section shows how parts of the fort were adapted later in the twentieth century. Children are kept busy with fun trails, holiday activities and events through the year, and volunteers are on hand to help. There is a cafe on site, picnic space on the ramparts and a shop. Dogs are welcome throughout. The fort is closed for maintenance work over the winter, so check the reopening date before travelling.
Seasonal opening; closed over winter with a half-term reopening in February 2027.
