Portland Bill Lighthouse is a striped Trinity House lighthouse on the southern tip of the Isle of Portland, and the main attraction at the Bill. Guided tours take visitors up the tower to the lantern room for wide views over the Jurassic Coast and the busy waters of the Portland Race. A visitor centre in the former keepers' quarters explains the history of the light and the people who kept it, with interactive displays that include a simulated stormy sea crossing. Older children who meet the minimum height requirement can climb the steps, while younger visitors can still enjoy the centre and the shop. Outside, the rocky headland, the nearby Pulpit Rock and the cafe make it an easy place to spend a relaxed afternoon, and the area is popular with birdwatchers.
