- Limited parking
Limited parking in the immediate vicinity of the museum on Whitcombe Road. The venue suggests public parking at The Square or Yarn Barton.
Only facilities we’ve confirmed are listed — anything missing here we simply haven’t checked, rather than know to be absent.
Beaminster Museum covers the history of the market town and the villages around it, from Jurassic fossils and Stone Age hand axes through Bronze Age, Iron Age and Roman finds to more recent working life. It is housed in a converted listed Congregational chapel, where the 19th-century chamber organ is still played regularly. One display explains the local flax industry, from growing the crop to weaving linen for sailcloth, and a rear barn holds old farm implements connected with sheep, milk and arable farming. The museum is also pitched at families, and its shop sells local books and gifts. Visitors interested in family history can ask the research team for help with local records. Being entirely volunteer run, it relies on donations and is glad to welcome visiting groups by arrangement.
Seasonal opening; closed for winter from 1 November per the venue homepage.
