What’s there

  • Limited parking

No car park at the house. Nearest council car park is at North Quay and a commercial car park is at Newberry Gardens; one hour free on-street parking is sometimes available on the harbourside. Bike racks in Hope Square.

Only facilities we’ve confirmed are listed — anything missing here we simply haven’t checked, rather than know to be absent.

Tudor House is a well-preserved early 17th-century merchant's house on the old harbourside in Weymouth. It is furnished as a middle-class home of the period, with large original fireplaces in the main downstairs room and bedrooms on the upper floors, so families can see how people lived, cooked and worked by candlelight four centuries ago. Volunteers from the Weymouth Civic Society lead guided tours that cover domestic daily life, furniture, clothing and food preparation, and they are happy to tailor the talk for school groups. The house is small, so it suits a short, focused visit that can be combined with a walk along the harbour. Access to the upper floors is by a narrow period staircase, so it works best for children who are comfortable with stairs and older visitors who can manage them.
