Facilities

Corinium Museum sits in the middle of Cirencester and tells the story of the Cotswolds from prehistoric times to the late nineteenth century. Its best-known holdings are the Roman finds from Corinium, the Roman town that stood on the site of the modern town, including a large group of mosaics. Other galleries cover Iron Age and Anglo-Saxon objects, medieval sculpture, costume and local social history. Modern galleries include hands-on computer interactives that suit children who like to explore, and the museum runs workshops and holiday activities alongside temporary exhibitions. Families can also pair a visit with a town walk through the Roman and medieval streets. The museum is a practical choice for a rainy afternoon in the Cotswolds, and it is set up to welcome school groups as well as family visitors.
