What’s there
- Café on site
Only facilities we’ve confirmed are listed — anything missing here we simply haven’t checked, rather than know to be absent.
The Old Mill sits beside the River Eye in the Cotswold village of Lower Slaughter and has been open to visitors since the mid-1990s. The mill building is the setting for a small museum that takes visitors through the history of breadmaking and shows how a corn mill works, with the mill machinery being slowly restored. Families can wander the mill and then head to the gift and craft shop, or stop at the ice cream parlour, which makes its ice cream on site with natural ingredients. There is a terrace by the river and a barn serving home cooking, so it works well as a short stop within a longer walk along the river between Lower Slaughter and Bourton-on-the-Water. The visit is compact, so it suits a relaxed hour or two rather than a full day, and it is best checked ahead because opening arrangements have changed over time.
