Bath Racecourse sits on Lansdown Hill just north of the city and is known as one of the highest flat racecourses in the country, with views across Bath. Its racing runs through the warmer months, and the course lays on family fun days where children have free entry to most fixtures when accompanied by a paying adult. Families can expect extra free entertainment on those days, which has in the past included inflatables, face painting, go-karts and fairground rides, alongside the racing itself. Picnics are allowed on family days, and food and drink are also sold on site. The venue also hosts fireworks evenings, live music nights and Christmas party events, so there is something for families who want a different kind of occasion. Check the events calendar before travelling, as the programme changes from year to year and not every fixture is a family day.
Racing season April to October; winter events are non-racing evenings such as fireworks and Christmas parties.
