Brotherton Park and Dibbinsdale Local Nature Reserve

A 54-hectare Local Nature Reserve on the Wirral, built around an ancient woodland and the valley of the River Dibbin. Families can wander the woodland paths, follow the river and meadows, and look for wildlife across the seasons. The Ranger's Office and visitor centre sit around a courtyard, with a walled garden holding a tree nursery, an organic garden and an outdoor classroom. Interpretive displays explain the history and wildlife of the area, and the ranger runs school visits and a programme of guided walks, bird watching and seasonal events. There is a small fishing pond where a permit is needed. The visitor centre and walled garden are open when a ranger is on duty, so check ahead if you want to go inside. The reserve suits relaxed outings with children who enjoy exploring nature on foot.
