The Household Cavalry Museum occupies the ground floor of the Horse Guards building, facing Horse Guards Parade in central London. Three galleries cover the history of the Household Cavalry, the British Army's senior regiment, from its seventeenth-century beginnings to recent operations. Families can look through a window at the horses in the working 18th-century stables, explore the regiment's uniforms and campaigns, and watch video displays about ceremonial duties. Audio-visual guides are included in admission. The museum is a short walk from Trafalgar Square, St James's Park and Westminster, and it also hosts school groups. Weekends and changing-of-the-guard times can be busy, so quieter weekday visits may suit younger children better.
