The British Library at St Pancras is the national library of the United Kingdom, and its public galleries give families a look at some of the most famous manuscripts and printed works in the country. The Treasures Gallery holds a changing display of more than two hundred items, from ancient texts to music scores and historic maps, and it is free to enter. Larger temporary exhibitions run through the year and are charged separately, so families can plan a visit around whichever show is on. The building has a large central piazza and entrance hall, a sound gallery where visitors can listen to recordings from the collection, and cafés for a break. Visits suit older children and teenagers with an interest in history, books, languages or music, and younger children can enjoy the open spaces and the building itself. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the public areas.
