Islington Museum sits in the basement beneath Finsbury Library in Clerkenwell and tells the story of the London Borough of Islington. The permanent displays cover themes such as home and housing, radical politics, fashion, healthcare, entertainment, crime and punishment, and the borough at war, with objects, text panels and some audio to listen to. Temporary exhibitions run alongside the permanent collection. It is a compact, low-key visit that suits school groups, older children with an interest in history, and families who want a free indoor outing close to Angel or Farringdon. Admission is free and no booking is needed, so it works well as a short stop on a day in central London.
