Facilities

The Museum of Methodism sits in the crypt of Wesley's Chapel, an 18th-century chapel in central London, and traces the history of the Methodist movement from John Wesley to the present day. Objects, documents and paintings tell the stories of John Wesley, his brother Charles and other figures in the movement, and the displays are compact enough for a relaxed visit with older children. Next to the chapel stands John Wesley's Georgian house, which visitors can ask to see with a heritage steward, giving a glimpse of how he lived. The museum runs family visits and school learning programmes, and seasonal family drop-in sessions have included wildlife crafts and a bug trail in the garden. It suits families interested in history or architecture, or anyone wanting a quiet, educational outing close to Old Street.
