A volunteer-run heritage railway on part of the former Malton and Driffield line in the Yorkshire Wolds, and the only heritage railway in East Yorkshire. Families come for short train rides behind a diesel locomotive and in a restored brake van along a short stretch of track. The visitor centre is housed in a preserved British Rail coach and tells the story of the line through photographs, artefacts and information boards. A refreshment shop in another restored coach serves tea, coffee and light refreshments, and there is space to sit and watch the trains. Parking and entry to the visitor centre are free, so a visit can be as simple as a look round and a ride. Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome. Operation is seasonal, mainly Sundays and bank holidays through the summer, with some Wednesdays and occasional Saturdays for events.
