Hornsea Museum spreads across six buildings with nineteen display areas, so it feels bigger than its seafront-town setting suggests. The core is an 18th century farmhouse that was home to the same family for nearly three hundred years, with Victorian rooms, outbuildings and an 18th century barn. Families can wander through local history displays, see more than two thousand pieces of Hornsea Pottery, and spot a model railway and model fishing boats. The garden includes a play area, which gives younger children a break between rooms. Children's craft days run during the school holidays, and the museum hosts other events through the year. It suits a rainy afternoon or a mixed-age visit where adults want local history and children want something to do with their hands.
Open seasonally; check the site for winter Saturday dates and Christmas events.
