The magnificently situated Urquhart Castle is one of Scotland's most iconic historic places, bearing witness to some of the most dramatic chapters in our nation's story, with more than 1,000 years of history on the shores of Loch Ness. Once one of Scotland's largest castles, its iconic ruins sit on a rocky promontory with views up and down the loch. Visitors can explore the ruins, climb Grant Tower for panoramic views, and enjoy the visitor centre, cafe and gift shop.
Summer season 1 Apr-31 Aug (09:30-20:15); autumn 1 Sep-30 Sep (09:30-18:00); 1 Oct-31 Oct (09:30-17:00); winter 1 Nov-31 Mar (09:30-16:30). Reduced 24 Dec and 1 Jan.
